Why Translations Don't Appear in the App Editor

You may notice that your storefront is translated correctly while the translated text does not appear in CountryBlock's editor.

This is expected when the content is translated by Auto Translation.

CountryBlock uses AI to automatically detect and translate your storefront content, eliminating the need to create or update each translation manually. This saves you time, keeps translations up to date when your original content changes, and ensures consistent translation quality across your store.

Because auto translations are generated and displayed directly on the storefront, they are not saved as editable translation entries in Shopify and may not appear in CountryBlock's editor.

How Auto Translation works

After you publish and enable a target language, CountryBlock automatically translates your storefront when a visitor selects that language using the CountryBlock switcher.

The original content loads first, and CountryBlock then detects and translates the visible content directly on the page.

Because the translation is generated dynamically, you may see:

  • Translated content on your storefront
  • No corresponding translation in the app editor
  • No saved translation in another Shopify translation app
  • No translation data available to external sales channels

This does not mean the translation failed. If the correct language appears on your storefront, Auto Translation is working as expected.

note

Auto-translated content may take approximately one second to appear after the page loads.

The loading time can vary depending on the page size, theme, internet connection, and customer device.

To check an auto translation:

  1. Make sure the target language is published in Shopify and enabled in CountryBlock.
  2. Open your storefront in a private or incognito window.
  3. Change the language using the CountryBlock switcher.
  4. Wait briefly for the translation to appear.
  5. Browse several pages to confirm that the content is translated.

Always check the live storefront instead of relying only on the translation editor.

Auto Translation and Manual Translation

Use a manual translation when the translated content needs to be permanently saved in Shopify.

Manual translation is recommended for content that requires:

  • Precise wording or brand-specific terminology
  • SEO optimization
  • Product feeds
  • Google Shopping
  • Facebook and Instagram Shopping
  • Pinterest
  • Other services that read translation data from Shopify

You can create and manage saved translations using a Shopify-compatible translation app, such as Shopify Translate & Adapt.

CountryBlock gives priority to existing manual translations:

  • If a manual translation is available, customers will see the manual version.
  • If no manual translation is available, CountryBlock will automatically translate the content on the storefront.

CountryBlock does not overwrite existing manual translations. If you update the original store content, you may also need to update its saved manual translation using the app in which it was created.

The storefront is not translated

If you cannot see the translation on your storefront:

  • Confirm that the target language is published in Shopify.
  • Make sure the language is enabled in CountryBlock.
  • Change the language using the CountryBlock switcher.
  • Wait briefly after the page loads.
  • Test the storefront in a private or incognito window.
  • Confirm that the content has not been marked with the notranslate class.

If the translation appears on the storefront but not in the editor, Auto Translation is working normally.
